Reinsurance Accountant

REINSURANCE ACCOUNTANT ROLE – $90,000 – $110,000

We are seeking a skilled Reinsurance Accountant to contribute to the accurate and efficient management of our reinsurance accounting processes.

About the company
This is a fast-paced environment, the ideal candidate will have a strong background in accounting, a keen attention to detail, and a thorough understanding of reinsurance principles.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. Professional certification (e.g., CPA) is a plus.
• 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on reinsurance accounting within the insurance industry.
• Solid understanding of reinsurance principles, accounting standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft Excel.

Key responsibilities:

Reinsurance Accounting:
Manage the end-to-end accounting process for reinsurance transactions, including premium and claims accounting.
Reconcile reinsurance accounts and ensure accuracy in financial records, resolving discrepancies in a timely manner.

Premiums and Claims Processing:
Collaborate with underwriting and claims departments to accurately record reinsurance premiums and claims in accordance with established guidelines.
Verify and process ceded and assumed reinsurance transactions, ensuring compliance with contract terms.

Financial Reporting:
Prepare and analyze financial statements related to reinsurance activities, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards and company policies.
Assist in the preparation of financial reports for management, auditors, and regulatory authorities.

Reinsurance Treaty Administration:
Maintain and update reinsurance treaties and contracts in the accounting system.
Work closely with the legal team to ensure that reinsurance contracts are in compliance with regulatory requirements.

Cash Management:
Monitor cash flows related to reinsurance activities and ensure proper allocation of funds in coordination with treasury functions.
Reconcile bank statements and resolve discrepancies related to reinsurance transactions.

Audit Support:
Collaborate with internal and external auditors to provide necessary documentation and explanations related to reinsurance accounting processes.
Participate in the preparation of audit schedules and responses to audit inquiries.
