About the Role

The role supports over 100 commercial, residential, cooperative/condominium, and low-income HDFC properties across Westchester and NYC. This position ensures accurate financial reporting, cash management, and compliance, acting as the primary financial contact for property managers and ownership. The Property Accountant will also work closely with the Controller to support reporting, budgeting, and audit processes.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and review monthly financial statements, general ledger entries, and reconciliations.
• Manage accounts payable/receivable, cash balances, tax payments, and wire transfers.
• Lead budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis for assigned properties.
• Monitor property-level financial performance, resolve discrepancies, and ensure compliance.
• Serve as the main contact for property managers and clients on financial matters.
• Collaborate with the Controller to support annual audits, regulatory reporting, and special projects.

Candidate Profile

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field required.
• 3+ years of accounting experience, ideally in real estate or property management.
• Strong skills in general ledger management, reconciliations, and cash handling.
• Proficient in MS Excel; experience with property management/accounting software preferred.
• Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
• Excellent communicator with strong client service skills.
