The individual in this role assumes responsibility as the lead for all financial-related matters at the site, both internally and in dealings with external parties. This role will also serve as the primary point of contact for the corporate financial controllers. The role entails proactive implementation and monitoring of financial processes to ensure timely, accurate, and pertinent information is furnished to support well-informed decision-making.

Financial Processes:

  • Assume complete ownership of financial and management accounts.
  • Establish financial governance and control across all site aspects.
  • Maintain current understanding of accounting and control methodologies, executing processes to meet site-wide requirements.
  • Uphold precise financial records and audit trails to fulfil statutory requisites and facilitate internal and external audits.
  • Provide precise data to group management and internal site departments, adhering to reporting deadlines.
  • Facilitate commercial and operational decision-making through:
    • Standard costing
    • Reporting key performance indicators (KPIs)
    • Reporting yield and efficiency metrics
    • Collaborating closely with the procurement team
    • Identifying and executing IT and business system enhancements
    • Strategic planning
    • Overseeing capital projects, encompassing cost management and depreciation
    • Assuming duty manager responsibilities when needed
    • Managing ad-hoc projects
  • Proactively identify avenues for continuous improvement within the finance department and the broader business, executing best practice initiatives.
  • Provide input for integration strategies and finance process plans in alignment with organizational needs.

Financial Operational Effectiveness:

  • Forge close collaboration with the business management team to gauge financial implications of commercial and operational matters, aiming to optimize business performance.
  • Act as an engaged member of the site’s senior management team, contributing to business growth strategy formulation and execution.
  • Collaborate extensively with the site manager and management team on projects encompassing operations and capital investments. Provide apt support and conduct financial due diligence, including cost/benefit analysis.
  • Actively back the team in reviewing, developing, and rolling out the site’s 5-year Strategic Plan.

Budget Control:

  • Collaborate with the management team to draft the annual budget and quarterly forecasts, adhering to established timelines.
  • Collaborate with the senior management team to fulfill the agreed-upon annual budget and quarterly forecast commitments, along with providing variance analysis from the budget/forecast.
