About the potential next-step

Responsibilities 

  • Lead the coordination of the financial close process on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis. Oversee the close timetable for the International business, ensuring accurate and timely production of consolidated Group results.
  • Conduct the monthly consolidation of global reporting entities and group financial reporting, including checks, validations, and reviews.
  • Prepare and consolidate the Group’s monthly management reporting pack, providing high-quality information with timely commentary on key variances.
  • Compile monthly balance sheet reconciliations, including commentary on transactions and prompt resolution of discrepancies.
  • Identify and implement process and control improvements in Group consolidation processes, interim and year-end processes, and other monthly reporting requirements. Standardize processes across divisions and establish clear plans and timelines.
  • Collaborate closely with the financial controller to enhance the financial control environment and ensure effective operation of financial controls.
  • Provide technical accounting leadership and take ownership of the financial accounting reporting system.
  • Coordinate the annual external audit process for the International business, ensuring efficient and timely completion of the group audit.
  • Manage the preparation of the annual UK GAAP financial statements for the group’s UK entities, applying appropriate accounting policies and disclosures.
  • Act as a point of contact for technical accounting matters, overseeing the production of accounting papers for significant transactions.
  • Assume responsibility for UK corporation tax filing obligations and the preparation and submission of R&D tax credit calculations. Coordinate with Group tax advisors.
  • Foster strong relationships with operational/functional teams to ensure financial accuracy and completeness across the Group, offering regular support and advice.
  • Take a leading role in developing team members within the finance function.
  • Maintain accounting policy documentation and ensure proper application of new and emerging accounting and disclosure requirements.
  • Oversee cash flow reporting, including the preparation of forecasts and relevant analysis.

Essential Criteria

  • Ideal for a motivated candidate with a technical accounting background
  • Qualified accountant with a minimum of 3 years post-qualified experience.
  • Strong technical accounting skills with a sound understanding of statutory accounting, processes, and controls.
  • Effective communicator with the ability to engage with senior stakeholders, providing constructive challenge.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel.
  • Exceptional planning, organization, and communication skills, influencing stakeholders at various levels.
  • Strong cultural awareness, adaptability, and confidence to operate across geographic regions.
  • Key point of contact for the audit management team, ensuring timely resolution of issues.
  • Undertake ad-hoc analyses and projects to support management decision-making.
  • Ensure correct and consistent application of Group’s accounting policies throughout the organization.
