Job Description
This role requires a seasoned professional with extensive accounting experience in managing hotel finances including food and beverage, excellent attention to detail, and strong communication skills.
Key Responsibilities:
- Financial Management:
- Manage all budgeting, forecasting, profit and loss reporting, and account reconciliation for operating and balance sheet accounts.
- Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of daily and month-end reporting, payroll processing, income audit, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and cash and credit card management.
- Team and Third-Party Management:
- Oversee day-to-day activities of the internal accounting team and third-party managers, including hotel management companies and third-party food & beverage managers.
- Implement appropriate financial controls and ensure consistency in reporting, budgeting, and forecasting processes.
- Reporting and Reconciliation:
- Review and approve all balance sheet accounts, including monthly bank reconciliation and general ledger account reconciliations.
- Create and deliver ownership-level reporting that consolidates hotel, food & beverage, and ancillary operations.
- Identify and rectify discrepancies between management and ownership reporting.
- Audit and Compliance:
- Review, evaluate, and document internal controls over accounting transactions.
- Complete internal and external financial audits, coordinating with CPA firms and providing requested information timely.
- Oversee tax compliance and participate in regulatory agency audits.
- Cash Management:
- Oversee cash management, including cash flow projections by property, considering both operating performance and debt service.
- Manage capital expense budgets and reconcile expenditures monthly.
- Oversee debt service covenants and cash management provisions under loan documents, implementing corresponding reporting and forecasting.
- Strategic Financial Support:
- Collaborate with the Asset Management team to drive profitability and identify areas for financial improvement.
- Investigate and critique variances to budget and prior years, providing practical improvement methodologies.
- Participate in the review and preparation of annual budgets and periodic forecasts.
- Tax Management:
- Oversee and assist with U.S. Federal and State income tax filings.
- Participate in processing real estate tax payments and sales & use tax returns.
- Relationship Management:
- Foster strong professional relationships with third-party manager finance teams to ensure accurate and strategic management of performance.
- Additional Responsibilities:
- Handle other duties and special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Minimum of 7-10 years of management-level experience within hotel finance, including food and beverage operations.
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in accounting, finance, business, or a related field.
- Public accounting experience and/or CPA designation preferred.
- Substantial managerial/supervisory experience.
- Excellent computer skills, including advanced proficiency in MS Office applications, particularly Excel.
- Experience with MRI and ProfitSword preferred.
- Experience with reading and abstracting loan documents.
- Well-organized with the ability to excel in a dynamic work environment.
- Strong work ethic with the ability to work independently and manage a team.
- Ability to multi-task and manage a challenging workload while consistently meeting deadlines.
Job Type: Full-time
Pay: Up to $215,000.00 per year
