Credit Control Specialist
Location: Belfast | Permanent | Full-Time Office-Based

This position is based at the Mallusk site and is part of a small, dynamic finance team in a fast-paced working environment.

The finance team operates a flexible working schedule, including alternate half-day Fridays.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure timely distribution of overdue account reminders, duplicate invoices, and customer statements.
  • Actively engage with customers by phone, email, and written correspondence to recover outstanding balances.
  • Handle the escalation of overdue accounts, including preparation for legal action when necessary.
  • Generate and present month-end debtor reports to senior leadership, highlighting aged debt and key metrics.
  • Manage the processing of Direct Debit collections and investigate any payment failures via online banking tools.
  • Lead monthly debt review meetings and collaborate with departmental heads to drive effective debt recovery strategies.
  • Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies and account queries to ensure prompt payment.
  • Manage the monthly distribution of maintenance contract documentation to clients.
  • Accurately apply incoming payments to customer accounts when required.
  • Carry out credit assessments for new and existing customers and assist with general finance administration tasks.
  • Support the broader finance team with administrative duties to ensure smooth department operations.

Candidate Profile

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a dedicated credit control role.
  • Demonstrated ability to independently manage the full credit control cycle.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and familiar with various accounting platforms.
  • Confident communicator with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to engage across all levels of the organisation.
  • Detail-oriented with a high degree of accuracy in financial data handling.
  • Proactive mindset and capable of managing workload with minimal supervision.
  • Strong relationship-building skills, both internally and externally.
  • Positive and solution-focused approach to problem-solving and task management.
