Job Description: Construction Controller
Location: New York, NY
Reports to: CFO
Position Type: Full-Time

Position Summary:
The Construction Controller will oversee all financial operations related to our construction projects and ensure accurate and timely financial reporting. This role reports directly to the CFO and will manage a team of 6 accounting professionals.
Key Responsibilities:

• Financial Management:
• Oversee the preparation and review of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies.
• Manage all aspects of the general ledger, including journal entries, reconciliations, and financial analysis.
• Develop and implement financial controls and procedures to ensure the integrity of financial data.
• Construction Accounting:
• Manage job costing, project accounting, and revenue recognition.
• Review and analyze construction project budgets, forecasts, and financial performance.
• Monitor project expenses and ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
• Oversee the preparation of draw requests and coordination with project managers for billing and collections.
• Team Leadership:
• Lead and mentor a team of 6 accounting professionals.
• Provide guidance and support to ensure team members meet their goals and develop professionally.
• Conduct performance evaluations and identify opportunities for training and development.
• Reporting and Analysis:
• Prepare and present financial reports to senior management and stakeholders.
• Analyze financial data to identify trends, variances, and opportunities for improvement.
• Assist in the development of financial models and forecasts to support strategic planning.
• Compliance and Audit:
• Ensure compliance with all relevant financial regulations and standards.
• Coordinate and manage annual audits and ensure timely resolution of audit findings.
• Maintain accurate and organized financial records for audit purposes.
• Ad-hoc Projects and Duties:
• Participate in special projects and initiatives as required by the CFO.
• Collaborate with other departments to support overall business objectives.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field; CPA or CMA certification preferred.
• Minimum of 7 years of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a construction accounting role.
• Strong knowledge of construction accounting principles, job costing, and project financial management.
• Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
