In light of our client’s sustained expansion, an opening has emerged within the Senior Management Team for the position of Company Accountant. We are seeking an individual who displays strong self-motivation, possesses a robust foundation in accounting, and demonstrates notable proficiency and exposure to commercial aspects, which could contribute to business growth. The designated role will provide valuable support to the financial team and will be stationed at our central headquarters.

The chosen candidate will play a pivotal role in shaping critical business decisions. This position presents an exceptional opportunity for extensive involvement and potential advancement in one’s career path.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Generating Monthly Management Accounts categorized by Division, including comprehensive analysis.
  • Preparing Preliminary Annual Financial Accounts and coordinating with External Accountants to ensure a seamless finalization process.
  • Compiling the Annual R&D Tax claim.
  • Monitoring external funding prospects available to the organization.
  • Aiding the Commercial Manager in assembling Tender proposals, alongside maintaining up-to-date and precise Divisional Costs per tonne.
  • Managing the submission of UK VAT returns to HMRC.
  • Compiling and Submitting unregistered ROI VAT claims to HMRC.
  • Oversight of Sales and purchase Ledger Management.
  • Carrying out Monthly Reconciliations of the Balance Sheet
  • Overseeing and upkeeping Hire Purchase and Lease agreements.
  • Conducting Monthly Bank Reconciliations.
  • Preparing Month End Journals.
  • Providing occasional support to Accounts Payable.
  • Handling day-to-day general bookkeeping responsibilities to ensure seamless business operations.
  • Assisting the Management team in recognizing and nurturing novel business prospects.

Candidate Profile:

  • A certified accountant holding membership in a recognized professional body (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) or an equivalent qualification, or alternatively, a proficient Qualified by Experience accountant.
  • Demonstrates strong commercial acumen with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exhibits excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Possesses a proactive and driven demeanour, capable of working independently as well as collaboratively within a team setting.
  • Displays proficient IT and Excel abilities.
  • Familiarity with Sage Line 50 is advantageous.
  • Prior experience in a similar capacity is a prerequisite.
  • Exposure to Business Development is preferred, though not mandatory.
  • Exhibits a willingness to actively pursue ongoing professional development.
