The Opportunity

This is a senior-level, hands-on leadership role overseeing a high-volume, project-driven AP environment. The AP Manager will serve as the operational owner of payables, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, compliance, and strong internal controls while partnering closely with project teams, procurement, and finance leadership.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage full-cycle accounts payable for a high-volume construction environment ($20M–$30M annually)
  • Oversee invoice intake, coding, approval workflows, and payment processing
  • Lead AIA billing review, compliance, and lien waiver coordination
  • Supervise and mentor AP staff; set performance standards and workflows
  • Ensure proper job cost coding and alignment with project budgets
  • Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies promptly
  • Maintain strong internal controls and audit readiness
  • Partner with Project Managers and Operations on invoice accuracy and cost tracking
  • Manage vendor relationships and resolve escalations
  • Oversee 1099 processing and year-end reporting
  • Drive continuous improvement across AP systems, controls, and automation
  • Support month-end close and reporting in coordination with the Controller
  • Serve as system owner for AP-related platforms and integrations

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
  • 7+ years of accounts payable experience in construction or project-based environments
  • Prior AP leadership or supervisory experience required
  • Strong understanding of job costing and construction workflows
  • Extensive experience with AIA billing and lien compliance
  • Proven success managing high-volume AP operations
  • Strong ERP and construction systems experience (SAGE, Procore, Timberscan/Titanium a plus)
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Detail-oriented with strong process and control mindset
